Professional Summary
I am a seasoned human resource development professional with more than 25 years of working experience in both business corporations and academic institutions. I am fluent in English and Chinese and able to work effectively in multicultural and diverse environments. My professional skills include creating coaching and mentoring programs, overseeing talent management and retention strategies, establishing corporate universities, and developing leaders. I am a seasoned practitioner and researcher with strong people and leadership skills.
I am currently an associate professor of Human Resource Development and dean’s fellow for faculty development and diversity initiatives. I am also editor of the Journal of Human Resource Development International, regional editor - USA for the Journal of Chinese Human Resource Management, and a member of the board of directors for the Academy of Human Resource Development. I have worked as a senior research fellow of The Conference Board and am affiliated with the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at Illinois. Before joining the Illinois faculty, I taught at the University of North Texas, Texas A&M University, and North China University of Technology. Prior to becoming a professor, I worked as a business executive for Motorola, Raytheon, and Nokia. My Ph.D. is from Pennsylvania State University.
